April 26 thru 29
We spent time with Marcus, Mommy finally got to hold him for a few hours. Unfortunately we had to let him go on April 29th. His little lungs just couldnt take the stress anymore. We know that he is now at peace. We are hoping that they can study Marcus and find out what went wrong so that no other family will have to go thru what we have.
April 21, 2012Well we went to Birminigham and saw Marcus today. The doctor told us that he has done everything he can do for him. We are not going to transport him to Mobile. In order to do that we will have to sign no resuscitation papers and he would be sent to mobile to die. He has episodes when they try and reposition him and move him in any way. The episodes consist of him crashing and they have to resuscitate him. Doctor feels that he will never get better and that being on the vent for so long has caused brain damaged and will cause further brain damage. Right now they are just keeping him comfortable. The doctor told us that in his opinion we should take Marcus off all the machines and just let Kayla hold him and love on him till he goes. We are not ready to do that right now and the doctor says that it is up to us and he will do what we want. Before we left Marcus he opened his eyes, held his mommy's finger and would not let go. How do I tell her what she should do. I could not give up on my child no matter what but when do we say enough is enough? We are trying to figure out a way for Kayla to be able to stay in Birmingham with Marcus so she can make a decision that will effect her and his entire life. Please continue to pray for our little fighter and his mommy. I will keep ya'll posted. I say that the Doctor is NOT God and I do not mean to sound cold or mean but I DO NOT believe the BS about it being God's Way for Marcus to go to heaven. I believe the Bible and Gods word and it says that God GIVES LIFE HE DOES NOT TAKE IT. It is man and the Devil that takes life. So PLEASE, I ask that you do not say that it was Gods way or his plan for Marcus to go to Heaven or whatever. The Bible says that when you die you stop dreaming and do not know what is going on, you are asleep until he wakes you during the second coming. God is not the one trying to take Marcus. I might not be a great christian but I believe in God's word. I beleive Marcus was brought into this world to save his mommy and he has done that but he still has more to do. I do not care what faith you are or what faith you are not. I know this lil guy has been fighting for six months and I believe he has more fight in him. I dont know how long or for what reason but i will NOT lose my daughter again. APRIL 7, 2012
We are getting so tired of the excuses as to why they haven't moved Marcus to Mobile. He was stable for two full weeks and since he had an episode two days ago they say they can not move him now. He has to be stable. AAHHH This is getting to be very ridiculous. We have to get him down here so he can be with his mommy.
APRIL 6, 2012
Well up until last night Marcus had been doing great. His oxygen was between 30 and 40, off most of his meds and really haveing good days. Last night and this am he decided to hold his breath and drop his heart rate. Still waiting on them to move him back to Mobile. Wish they would hurry up, Kayla really wants to be with him but it costs so much to drive up there and back, we just cant afford it.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 28, 2012
Marcus has continued to have better days, they are weaning him off of most of the meds he has been on. Now they are trying to get him to eat. I still say the Dr is making excuses to keep him up there in Birmingham. I know our hospital down here is capable of feeding a baby. Just wish they would hurry up and get him down here where he belongs and where WE want him
FRIDAY MARCH 23, 2012WOOHOO Marcus!!! He is off the dopamine and they were able to get him to come down on his oxygen. He had a really good night last night and having a good day today. They are working on weaning him off the other sedation meds he is on. He was on them to keep him from fighting the chest tube. His hole in his lung is gone now. They want to try and make the vent do all the work for him so that no more damage is caused to his lungs and heart. They are also still trying to set it up so he can come to Mobile soon. Thank you for all the Prayers and Support. I can not wait for ya'll to meet Marcus.
MONDAY MARCH 19, 2012
Got a phone call from hospital today saying that Marcus was having a really bad day and they said he was critical. We headed up there to be with him. We found out that he was sicker then they had been telling us all these time and that he was facing very possible chances of not surviving. We are hoping to have him moved to South USA NICU in Mobile within a week so he can be with us.
SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 2012
Got to see Marcus today and brought him mommy home for a break. He is doing great, Nurse said that they changed his oxygen and are weening him off of it slowly. No infections and still has no idea why he had his episode over a week ago. Looks like he will be in hospital for awhile longer.
MONDAY, MARCH 5, 2012
Marcus is doing much better today. Still waiting on tests results. Thank you all for the prayers and support
THURSDAY, MARCH 1, 2012
Social worker just called, Marcus is having a rough morning. Stats are low. Waiting for Kayla to get to hospital and find out what is wrong. Well they still can not figure out what is wrong with Marcus but they have his stats back up and are going to paralize him so that the machines can do all the work and they can figure out if it is a infection or something else. X-rays show that his heart is working like it should and everything else looks great.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2012 9:13 PM, CST
Marcus did great, he is back in NICU, will be sedated for a few days to let his trach heal. Will update more soon as I know what is going on. :)
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2012 12:04 PM, CST
Marcus is getting ready for Trach. Should be having it done around 1pm Central time. Will keep everyone posted
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2012 12:24 PM, CST
Ok either this afternoon or tomorrow at noon Marcus will be getting his tracheoutamy (sp) Once he recovers from surgery they will keep him heavily sedated for a week so that his throat can heal. Then he will be moved to his own room where Kayla will spend 24/7 taking care of him. Nurses will be there just as backup. Once Kayla is comfortable with caring for Marcus he will come home. He will be able to do all things normal babies do with the trach including drinking bottles ect. Will keep all posted
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2012 3:23 PM, CST
They are not doing the trach on Marcus today. The doctor checked marcus and said that the reason he was not being able to breath on his own or get off the ventilator was because there was alot of stuff(not sure) that had built up around his breathing tube. So the doctor cleared it out and put in a smaller breathing tube. He wants to wait another week and try to get Marcus off the ventilator. He strongly feels that the trach is to much for Marcus and wants to try and avoid it as much as possible. Kayla is still trying to figure out if they are gonna move him back to UAB now or have him stay in Childrens for another week. UGH!!! I wish they would just move him back today so that I know Kayla has a place to sleep. These Doctors just dont have a clue what they are putting the families through. I am glad marcus is not having the trach done, I hope whatever the doctor just did will help Marcus get off that ventilator
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2012 3:46 PM, CST
Well he was suppose to have the trake put in today. They have him at Children's now saying they will do it hopefully on Friday. I just wish they would hurry up and just do something. I am so happy that he is visiting Childrens, his favorite nurse gets to see him now. :) I know he is in good hands
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2012 10:46 AM, CST
Marcus is having a tracheotomy done today. Kayla will have to go thru training on caring for Marcus once he comes home. I will also go up to hospital and go thru the training so I can help. Will post update after surgery.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 31, 2012 3:39 PM, CST
Marcus was taken off the vent this am around 8. It is 3:40 and so far no calls to say that he was put back on it. Hoping he wont have to be on it again. Gonna get Kayla back up there Sat. Luckily he is back in the RNICU, the nurses are wonderful, Kayla can stay in the room with Marcus and wont be alone. More updates as they come. Thanks again to everyone for all the prayers and support
TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2012 2:11 PM, CST
No major updates on Marcus. He is doing great, back on ventilator. They keep trying to take him off but his oxygen keeps dropping. He is at 45% and they are gonna try to again to take him off of it this week. Weighs just about 8 pounds, they are tube feeding him, he is urinating and having regular bowel movements. All in all he is doing just fine. Gonna try and get kayla back up there end of this month.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2012 11:11 PM, CST
They took Marcus off the ventilator today at 3pm. As of 11pm this evening he was still off of it. He is using a C-pap machine. If he can stay off the vent then they can start feeding him and he can work towards coming home. Kayla will be going back up there the first week in feb. He now weighs 8 pounds even :)
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2012 9:34 AM, CST
Marcus is doing great. Still trying to get him off the ventilator. Still in CICU. Heart doctor says that everything looks great and he feels certain that Marcus will recover just fine. Heading up there today to get Kayla and bring her home for a few days. She is being treated very poorly by the social worker and Hospital Admin. They will not help her at all with a room, food vouchers or showers. they are blaming her for her ex boyfriend beating her up and getting her kicked out of the Ronald house, and telling her that if she asks for anymore help at all she will be removed from the property. I do not understand what they expect parents to do when they do not live in Birmingham and have no way of paying for a place to stay. Then they say that she needs to spend more time with Marcus. Once he is in his own room she will go back up there to be with him and as soon as he is out of that hospital I will be writting to tell them that our experience with their hospital was aweful.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2011 6:52 PM, CST
Got Kayla safely to Birmingham, Thank You Jennifer Ghegan Shepherd!!!!! marcus is doing great. Had a little episode last night but dr told us today that he is doing just fine. His heart and chest x-rays look great. he is still on vent, dr says that because he had so many problems and the little lung he came out of surgery on reserves so it is taking alittle extra time to fully recover. they are hoping to get him off vent this weekend then all he has to do is be able to eat. Dr also said that in alot of cases if everything is good and he is still not eating a full bottle at every feeding they can put in a G-tube and send him home :) Kayla and her friend are up there. No room for a few days so they are camping in waiting room. I am glad she is not alone!
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2011 1:53 PM, CST
Marcus is doing great. Recovering faster then doctors expected. Still on vent but they are hoping to get him off of it soon. They are not sure what they are going to do as far as moving him to a room. They might wait till he is drinking his bottles. No new news yet. Kayla is gonna go back up there in the next few days. There is no where for her to stay until he is back in his own room.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2011 8:45 AM, CST
yesterday the surgeon finished up Marcus's surgery and he is now doing great in recovery. Should be moved to a room over the next couple days. wont know until after Christmas just how much longer he will be in Hospital before he can finally come home.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2011 6:17 PM, CST
Surgery went well. they sewed up small hole and patched larger one. The heart is swapped due to the diaphragmatic hernia so it was harder for doctor to see both holes and there is a mm size hole close to the patch that might have to be closed up in a couple years. They have him paralyzed and his chest still open till tomorrow to make sure everything is ok before they close him up. Kayla is a mess. Damn Surgeon has losy bedside manners and kept saying "I think he will be ok" They found a room for Kayla to stay in tonight and will move Marcus to the NICU tomorrow. He should be able to come home in two weeks. Kayla is almost out of minutes on her calling card and will call me tomorrow once they finish with Marcus and move him to NICU. Wish I could be there for her right now, poor kid is exhausted. I am just glad surgery went well and is finally over.
They found a room for Kayla to stay in for a couple days. She talked to another doctor and he made her feel alot better.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2011 5:35 PM, CST
Ok Just talked to Kayla. Surgeon freaked her out and she is a nervous wreck. He said that Marcus has a 97 percent chance of survival. Which is way higher then the first surgery. He says that he is gonna sew up small hole and patch the other. If he messes up on the sewing then Marcus will have to have a pacemaker for the rest of his life but that is not a big deal. He told Kayla that "He thinks Marcus will be ok" Not a really good choice of words but I know Marcus will be fine. Surgery is scheduled for 8am and should be over by 1:00. I wish I could be there for her. I hate being stuck here. Doctor also said that the recovery time is a few days but then they have to make sure he is drinking his bottle so it might be two to three weeks before he can come home. I just want him to get through this surgery and get Kayla home for Christmas.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2011 2:59 PM, CST
Surgery still scheduled for tomorrow. He had a rough couple of days, he is having a hard time drinking and breathing and yesterday his heart rate dropped twice. Kayla is suppose to be talking to surgeon today. I hope it all goes fast and he can finally recover from all the hurtles he has over come and be able to come home soon. Will post update as soon as I talk to Kayla
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2011 12:45 AM, CST
Got Kayla back up to Hospital. Marcus is getting so big. He weighs 6.11 and is now 19.5 inches long. They have scheduled his heart surgery this coming Monday Dec 19th. They say that since he is stable and growing fast that they are gonna go ahead and do surgery. He is still having hard time drinking full bottle at every feeding even though he drank a full bottle for nurse and two for kayla. They think that with the hole in his heart and all the extra blood going into his lung that it is causing him to have a harder time drinking. After he recovers from surgery he should be released to come home. Crossing fingers, they change their minds every freakin week lol
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2011 8:19 AM, CST
Marcus is doing great. Gonna get Kayla back up there Thursday night this week so that she can get him to drink his bottles and hopefully be released from Hospital before Christmas. I pray they will let him come home before the Holiday so that he can be with family. He is 6.7 and even though he is still having problems with drinking and breathing I know that with Mommys help he will be ready to come home very soon.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2011 10:05 PM, CST
Marcus was diagnosed with Unique 8p23.1 duplication syndrome. This is also what caused the hole in his heart and genital defect (which will also be fixed around time of the heart surgery) This is nothing that Kayla caused. I have read the papers that were given to Kayla and I have looked it up online and we will be working very hard to help Marcus over come the hurtles he has as he grows up. I am looking into all the toys, games and other learning materials that will help him.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2011 11:46 AM, CST
Just brought Kayla home after having to deal with a really bad situation with boyfriend. She is doing good and Marcus is doing great. kayla was not able to stay with him for the 24 hour feedings BUT the nurse practitioner told her to go home and take care of herself and they would get Marcus ready to come home. He just needs to take a full bottle at every feeding. right now he is taking a full bottle at every other feeding. Soon as he is ready we will take Kayla back up there so that she can spend atleast 24 hours in his room to learn everything about the oxygen that he will be bringing home with him and then he can be released. I am praying he will be home in time for Christmas!!!
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2011 2:35 PM, CST
Ok everyone needs to send a little prayer to Marcus. He is doing awesome but the nurses are insisting the he has a G-tube put in because they cant get him to drink full bottle. That will take another week or two. Kayla is able to get him to drink full bottle for her every time and the nurse said that if she can get him to drink a full bottle at every feeding for the next 24 hours they will release him to Mobiles Women and Childrens. First feeding this AM he drank full bottle. Next is at 3:30 (in an hr) Kayla is determined to sit n that room until tomorrow evening and prove to those idiots that he can and will drink for her. She is about to go off on them. lol The nurse she has today seems to think Kayla is an idiot. She pissed of the Nurse Practitioner about Mobiles hospital being just as good LOL she is ready to come home to her daughter and get Marcus closer to all of us! I told her that if they make up another excuse tomorrow she needed to demand they send him home by the end of the week. Its her right to have him in the hospital she wants him in and he has passed every test they have thrown at him. They are running out of excuses to suck more money off his insurance company
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2011 4:30 PM, CST
Marcus is now 5.8 he is doing very well. They ran a bunch of tests and they say he will be slow at learning. HA! Not my grand son. He is missing a chromosome and there is a half of one with an extra. not sure what all that means but they assured Kayla that it was nothing she did during the pregnancy it was something that just happens. I know we have no history of retardation or downs in our family and it did not come from Kayla, we dont have access to fathers medical records but that is ok I know that my little man will be just fine. They said that my older son would be slow cuz he was 9 weeks early and he is 22 with never any problems with learning or development. Marcus is drinking full bottle for Kayla but does not do it for the nurses, they say they do not force him. They say that if he doesnt take full bottle at every feeding they will have to put in a G-tube next week. They also said that either way he should be able to be sent back to Mobile next week. They need to stop making up excuses and just get him home. this is becoming very hard on Kayla and her four year old Lizzie not to mention our familys finances. I just pray they get back to Mobile very soon
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2011 9:15 AM, CST
Marcus now weighs 5 pounds 3 oz. He is growing so fast and getting stronger and stronger everyday. Hoping that the Doctor tells Kayla when he can be sent back down here to Mobile. Hoping it is soon. The weather up there is starting to get really cold and they are predicting snow. YUK! Want to get Kayla home before it gets really bad.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2011 9:24 AM, CST
Waiting to hear from Mommy today. Tomorrow Marcus will be 7 weeks old. Two weeks shy of full term. He has gone through so much but is still amazing the doctors with his will to survive. We are hoping that the doctor that has him during the week will say it is ok for him to go to Mobile. The weekend Dr told Kayla he didnt see a problem with it. I am getting tired of there being way to many people involved and non of them seem to talk to one another. I will let ya'll know more about how Marcus is growing and what is going to happen very soon
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2011 11:26 AM, CST
Marcus now weighs 4.15 and is 19 inches long. He is in a crib where mommy can take him out and hold him and feed him anytime. He is still on oxygen since he likes to hold his breath when being held or fed. Not sure when he will be sent to Mobile's Childrens Hospital. They want him off the oxygen and taking a full bottle before they transport him home. I dont personally see why Mobile's Childrens Hospital cant continue with the oxygen and feedings but we just have to wait and see. I hope they come home soon
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2011 9:10 PM, CST
Sorry for taking so long to post. Marcus did great on tests. Everything looks awesome. he now weighs 4.11 and almost 18 inches long. he is now taking the bottle. Hoping to have him back in Mobile week after Thanksgiving
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2011 10:03 AM, CST
Tests on Marcus's Kidneys will be tomorrow (Thursday) at 8am. I pray that all is working properly and that the surgeon will release him to be sent back to Mobile before Thanksgiving. I want my family back together. I will let everyone know how the tests went soon as I hear from Kayla. He had a couple episodes the other night regarding his forgetting to breath on his own but he is off the C-pap again and doing great
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2011 12:09 PM, CST
Doctors plan on doing tests either Thursday or Friday of this week. Was hoping to have Kayla and Marcus home for Thanksgiving but looks like it might be another couple of weeks. He is doing great. Hoping to start bottle feedings this week too. He is up to 4.1 pounds and 17.5 inches long.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2011 7:37 PM, CST
Doctors say that they are still amazed at how well Marcus is doing. He keeps taking feeding tube and oxygen tubes out and has managed to pull his diaper off. lol Should be completely off oxygen next few days and kidneys tested. I cant wait for him to get down to Mobile.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2011 2:12 PM, CST
Not much to report today. Marcus is still doing an awesome job getting through all these obstacles but we know he can and will do just fine. He is a fighter and God has plans for him here with us. Thank you all for the prayers and support! I will continue to update all of you.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2011 7:48 PM, CST
Marcus got his first bath today and Mommy helped. He is doing so great!!! Check out new pics
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2011 10:26 AM, CST
woohoo our little man is doing awesome! They are taking him off the c-pap (oxygen tube) and just pumping oxygen into his incubator. They are also removing the pick (IV) thing out of his head. Doctors are amazed at how well he is doing and how fast he is progressing. I hope they can hurry up and test his kidneys and send him back to Mobile soon. I want Kayla home for Thanksgiving and Marcus close
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2011 11:00 AM, CST
Still off Ventilator and they upped his feedings. Kayla thinks it is funny that they gave him a pacifier! I know it is to teach him how to suck...well soon as he figures it out the nasty things gotta go!! They are not welcome in mamas house. :) Hoping to hear soon when Marcus can be sent to Mobile
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2011 6:29 PM, CST
Marcus is now off the ventilator and has oxygen tube in nose. kayla says he is really cute hahaha she can finally see his whole face. Hoping she can figure out how to download pics on the computer and send them to me so I see him and share with everyone! So proud of my lil grand son!!!
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2011 11:15 AM, CST
Soon as Kayla gets back to Mobile with Camera I will be able to upload lots more pics of Marcus.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2011 10:57 AM, CST
Good News this AM. Mommy just text me and told me that they are taking Marcus off the ventilator today!! Now to have kidneys checked out and he should be sent back to Mobile's Childrens Hospital to finish getting ready to come home!!! Will keep ya'll posted soon as I hear any more news!! Thanks again for all the prayers and support!!! Cant wait to have my family all together for the Holidays!!
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2011 6:35 PM, CST
Sorry I didn't update yesterday. Marcus is doing great. Still moving forward. Feedings are 18ccs now and he is still working on his vent. The Dr. said today that he needs to be off vent and he will go back to Children's for tests then he can be moved back to Mobile. I am hoping it doesn't take more then another week or two. Want to get my daughter and grand baby boy home very soon.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2011 2:52 PM, CDT
Little man is doing so good. He is progressing very nicely and his vent is going down and his feedings are going up. He now weighs 3.15. They are gonna check his kidneys and looks like he will be sent back to Mobile very soon. He will stay there till he is totally off all machines, eatting from a bottle and atleast 5 pounds then he can come home!! He will be seeing a cardiologist regularly and around 6 months he will come back up here for his heart surgery. Thank God it is a very common surgery that will take care of the problem and he should never have to have any more surgeries ever. Still hoping for his little lung to start to grow and catch up with the other one. So proud of my lil man!!!
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2011 3:00 PM, CDT
Marcus was moved to UAB RNICU to be watched and have his heart checked. They are slowly taking him off the ventilator and started to give him alittle formula in is IV to see how his tummy reacts to it and to make sure his little organs are working the way they should. Hoping to catch the Dr tomorrow or at least talk to the Nurse Practitioner to see what they think about how long he might be up here before they send him home to mobile's Women's and Children's
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2011 1:49 PM, CDT
Marcus will be moved to UAB either today or tomorrow so that he can be monitored by the cardiologist. Womens and Childrens do all surgeries but heart and UAB does nothing with babies but heart. They dropped his vent from 78 to 35 and he seems to be doing great. They see that his stats and blood pressure are much better and he seems to be responding better since they have done this. He will have his own room with couch, tv, fridge and bathroom so we can be in there with him a lot more. Hoping that he can start eating soon and that the heart surgery will be in the very near future
MONDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2011 9:18 AM, CDT
It has been three days since Marcus had surgery and he is doing wonderful. His vent is still down, his color looks great and he is starting to move around. He has grown and inch since his birth three weeks ago and he now weighs 3.11 not bad for a little guy that cant eat yet. We are headed over there to see him now. Thank you for all the prayers and support!!!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2011 11:00 AM, CDT
Marcus had surgery this am and he did AWESOME!!! Surgeon said he did a great job. They didnt have to use the large ventilator. He is at 70 on vent. just on pain meds and recovering nicely. Just watching him for a few days to make sure there is no infection. Hopefully we can have him sent back to Mobile till he is ready to come home. We are so proud of our little fighter!!!
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2011 11:00 AM, CDT
Even though Marcus has gone back up a little on the ventilator they are talking about surgery tomorrow. Gonna talk to surgeon later today to find out what is going on and what time the surgery will be. I think it is to soon but then again I dont know anything :) I know Marcus is in Gods hands and that he will be just fine. I just want surgery done and over with and for Marcus to get stronger and sent back to Mobile so we can all go home
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2011 11:30 AM, CDT
Yeah Marcus!!! Marcus is down to 65 on his ventilator! He is off everything else but oxygen and nutrients. he is doing so well today! Dr.s say surgery might be next week could be sooner.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2011 10:30 AM, CDT
YEAH Marcus!!! He is down to 75 on his ventilator off the dopamine and should be having surgery next week!! He is doing great!!!
MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2011 12:50 PM, CDT
Marcus is doing great today. he is down on his ventilator and dopamine. They need him to be down in the 50s or 60s and today he is at 82.
We still do not know when surgery will be but we are hoping it will be within the next couple weeks. They might do the heart surgery after he recovers from the hernia surgery. We might be here for a couple months.
Not something we want to look forward to due to the holidays but we just have to keep praying for marcus to get through all this so he can go home.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2011 12:48 PM, CDT
Thank God for all the Prayers from family and friends. We finally got a room at the Ronald McDonald house. It is three blocks away from hospital and they always have food which makes it easy on me since I am on a fixed income at the moment.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2011 12:44 PM, CDT
two nights in the van and then Jeff got us a room at hotel so we could shower and get a good nights sleep. Kenney and grandma Kricket sent money to help with food.
Surgeon told Kayla that Marcus made it through the first 48 hours which was something most preemies with his condition do not do. That made us feel alot better.
I am glad the surgeon talked to Kayla he made her feel a whole lot better. We were getting tired of all the negative talk.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2011 2:30 AM, CDT
We made it to the hospital and found Marcus. We were tired and worried and had no idea what we were going to do. We slept in the van till morning and then talked to doctors and nurses. for the first couple days all we heard was all the stuff wrong with marcus. No one seemed to want to be possitive at all.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2011 4:30 PM, CDT
Very exciting day for Marcus. He was flown by Jet to Birmingham's woman's and children's hospital.
Mom, Dad Lizzie and I (grandma) all piled into the van and headed north to be with Marcus. We had no idea what was going to happen or what we were gonna do but we had to get there fast.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2011 3:19 PM, CDT
Marcus was born at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL he was suppose to be born at the Womens and Childrens but he was in a hurry and mommy couldnt make it that far :)
We all got to see him for just a moment before they took him to the nursery to get him ready to be taken to Womens and Childrens.
He weighed 3 pounds 5 onces and was 16 inchese long
